Numerous minibus and coach companies operate on Cambodia’s long-distance network. With different schedules, standards and fares some operate from the kerbside while others built dedicated, well-equipped bus stations. An SMMR-supported MPWT team of the Department for Urban Transport now makes an effort to survey all of them.
On 12 March 2020, MPWT and SMMR kicked-off the Bus and Coach Operator Survey, which will shed light on the routes, schedules, standards, fares and vehicles different operators offer on the long-distance market. Before the surveying began, SMMR had supported the team in developing the survey and trained their them on surveying methods.
The first runs brought already some additional results, i.e. that authorities and the operators would welcome a common bus terminal in Phnom Penh and other cities. The surveying will continue until the end of March.
